Course Description - Brain Gym in Action: Canadian International Summer Institute

Multiple Streams of Learning Workshop

With Maurine Maslen
Monday, August 1 and Tuesday, August 2

Course description: So many learning styles; so many levels of abilities; so many variations in learning difficulties. Left brain; right brain. Maybe the words "difficult, picky, oversensitive, clumsy, inattentive" can be used to describe some of these children. Maybe they are very artistic and creative. Maybe they cannot sit still. Maybe they have very messy writing, very poor spelling, and have difficulty reading and writing. Maybe they can read and write but do very little of either. No matter what the reason for any of these difficulties and/or differences, it is imperative to get the learner moving forward and to be making progress.

Instructor

Maurine Maslen, B.Ed., B.A., M.Ed., is the owner of the Centre for Positive Learning in St. Albert, Alberta. She has worked extensively in Special Education. Many labels were applied to the children with whom she worked. To learn more about the challenges her students were experiencing, she continually researched and learned about their difficulties. In her search for solutions, she became a certified instructor in Brain Gym® and in Listening Fitness Training (LiFT). Her search led her to look at many programs and to read many books in order to assist her students. She will share many of the techniques she has learned in order to help individuals get around problems.
